The play takes place in the livingroom of James Tyrone's summer home on a day in August, 1912 The lights will be dimmed to indicate the passing of time. There will be one fifteen minute intermission.
The unusual stage arrangement for this show, promoting an intimate audience/actor association, could only be done in a building with a level floor and moveable seating. Extensive facilities on the theatre stage for multi-set shows and musicals, excellent acoustics, generous storage and work areas, and this flexibility of seating, are some of the reasons why the Players and the Concord Orchestra have sponsored a new corporation, Friends of The Performing Arts in Concord, which seeks to lease thebuilding from the town and turn what many consider an eye-sore, into a real asset. Remodeling, inside and out, will include a new stage, specially suited for musical performances, constructed at the Walden Street end of the hall and a new foyer and entrance. Seating for 375 persons plus overflow on either stage is planned. This new facility will be made available by the Friends for a wide variety of functions such as recitals, concerts, lectures and exhibits. A favorable vote on Article 63 at the regular Town Meeting on March 6, 8, and 9, will permit the town to lease the building and will enable our plan to become a reality. We urge you and your friends to support our plans by voting YES on Article 63. Our next show, "Little Women," repeated every ten years by Players' tradition, will celebrate Louisa May Alcott's 140th birthday. This year's production, employing a new script and new set, will run for 12 performances beginning April 28 thru May 13. Richard
